Enchanted: The Works of Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks certainly was a major star in the '70s and early '80s, both as a key member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. She had a long string of hit singles with the group and alone, enough to justify a double-disc set, but the three-disc box set Enchanted is a case of overkill for anyone but hardcore fans. Enchanted is devoted entirely to Nicks' solo career, containing no Mac hits whatsoever. All of her hits — "Bella Donna," "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Edge of Seventeen," "Leather and Lace," "Stand Back," "Talk to Me," "I Can't Wait" — are here, as are minor singles and album cuts, plus non-LP B-sides, soundtrack cuts, unreleased items, demos, and live tracks. All of those rarities are interesting only to hardcore collectors and tend to weigh down the listenability of the set. Still, there are enough rarities (and enough good rarities) to make this box necessary for collectors. It's just that less dedicated fans — and that includes fans who are only familiar with her Fleetwood Mac work — should probably stick to the greatest-hits collection or Bella Donna.
