Return Of The New
1773 [Pronounced Seventeen Seventy-Three] originated in 2004 with MC's Wisdm O.N.E. and Just J crafting 11 feel good hip-hop songs with substance and content. Since then they have shared stages with Lyrics Born, Blackalicious, Pigeon John, L.A. Symphony, Ohmega Watts, Othello, Braille, Blu & Exile, Johnson & Jonson and many others. So why would they call "Return of the New"- the groups sophomore effort- their "real debut"? Wisdm & J both agree that this album is a true portrait of their musical selves. Early leaks of new material reveal Wisdm O.N.E. & Just J over fuzzy bass lines and crackly drums reminiscent to the likes of vintage Jay Dee and Pete Rock. Othello, Ohmega Watts, and Siamese Sisters all carry the production load thus creating an ideal musical platform for the duo to speak over. In March of 2006 Wisdm O.N.E. and Just J independently released their self-titled debut record. A two and a half week tour in support of their debut took Wisdm and J to Portland, Seattle, LA and everywhere in between. Moral One joined the group as the touring DJ and the chemistry between the three was undeniable, it was only natural for Moral One to become the third and final piece of 1773. 2009 finds 1773 with a new album, a new live show, and a renewed passion for music. Japan's River City Music Entertainment, who released 1773's debut last year, will release the trio's brand new debut album "Return of the New" in the 1st quarter of 2009 with a national tour to follow! Keep your eyes open for Moral One & Just J's eclectic DJ Sets around Chicago, with Wisdm O.N.E. as their host! Wisdm also has a Puerto Rican infused hip-hop album in the works and Just J is pairing up with Moral One to create a 10 song EP that will be released digitally Winter '09 2009 promises to be 1773's year!
