Colonia is the second solo album by The Cardigans vocalist Nina Persson and is due for release on 2 February 2009. The album will be proceeded by a single, Stronger Than Jesus, on 19 January 2009.[1] The single was released on the Swedish iTunes on 17 November 2008. Produced by Niclas Frisk and Nina Persson along with her husband, ex-Shudder to Think member Nathan Larson, the album features contributions from ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Joan As Policewoman and Guided By Voices drummer Kevin March.[2] Background and Production The recording of a second A Camp album was officially confirmed by Nina in an interview with Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter in May 2007. The interview stated that, mere weeks after recording had started, half a dozen backing tracks were completed and these were "going to get lyrics about everything from Chinatown in New York to animals in Africa". The album was inspired by "girl-pop from the 60's, 80's punk and David Bowie", but Nina made particular mention of Adam Ant, indicating that a cover of their song "Prince Charming" may be included on Colonia.[3] A further description of the musical styles featured on Colonia can be found in the biography section of A Camp's official website, stating that the approach was more that of "a proper band" (than on the first A Camp record). Lyrically, the album "draws on historical imagery... from the opium den to the Belgian Congo, from the Namibian desert by starlight to Victorian New York by gaslight, and the Bowery of the 70s by neon."[2]
