Semi Precious Tones
In his solo debut album Lolo fuses experimental hip-hop, electronic pop and a hint of R&B into an eclectic sound that is surprisingly refreshing. This Avant-Garde record was produced and recorded by the artist from Santa Fe NM, a new venture far away from the sounds of his rock/reggae band Sapphire, Lolo has put together this album ranging with styles from hip-hop beats to jazzy bass lines, sound-scaping synthesizers to mellow ballad vocal styles. The 10 new songs on Semi precious tones are performed entirely by Carlo Armendariz aka Lolo with special guest appearances by artists Reflex, Julie Dalness, Roland Garcia and David Vigil Jr. Semi precious tones was recorded and mixed at Spica Studio in Santa Fe NM and mastered by Kenny McCloud at Big Sound Mastering in Hollywood CA. Carlo Armendariz a.k.a. Lolo was born in 1981 in Santa Fe New Mexico. A multi-instrumentalist and photographer, he has played music for the past fifteen years, produced & composed nine albums. This ninth album is his solo debut, with musical inspirations ranging from John Lennon to Timbaland, Bjork to Fleetwood Mac, Sublime to Stevie Wonder, Lolo comprised this new album revealing his instrument work on the keyboard, guitar, bass, drum programming, voices and mixing. He sings about falling in love, breaking up and the rollercoaster of emotions that go along with that. Semi precious tones was recorded in Lolo's home studio in Santa Fe NM between July 2010 & November 2010.
