Mother Wit
by Andrew HamiltonIt's a shame that LPs have gone the way of the dinosaur, as Andris Kikutus' striking cover -- displaying Wright in a dashing red outfit -- is best appreciated in large scale. The nine tracks inside aren't half bad, either. Wright sounds as good as ever on the agonizing "After the Rain," the plaintive "No Pain, No Gain," and "Unsolicited Advice." She stays current with "Miami Groove," without losing any of the grip that has kept her musically viable for nearly 35 years.
