Still There
“Still There” was created as a team effort..... I had some cool sounding chord progressions laying around and Deena came up with the words and melody within a matter of minutes, or so it seemed........ The song just flowed out of her, and when she had sang back what she had written, I knew her heart, and soul was deep into it, and I wanted to capture it immediately in the recording studio. I asked her how she wrote it and she said that it's just how she felt at the time...Getting over a lost relationship, and being stuck in the past- holding on to nothing but memeories. I e-mailed the song to my brother Mark, and he came up with his own idea of what the bass line should sound like. He wanted a bass line that danced around, almost in a tormenting way, weaving in and out with the guitar and vocals, a call and response theme sometimes, without playing a straight-ahead, and predictable bass line. It's in a world of it's own, creating it’s own little hooks, yet relevant to the song, and refreshing to hear. This song was recorded without the “Digital Trickery” of today’s technology. We used NO pitch-shifters for voice correction, NO “copy and paste” techniques, and there was NO “punching-in" and "punching-out” to fix ANY mistakes! We have agreed that we wanted to keep some of the “Old-School” way of doing things alive during the recording process. We feel that this adds a TRUE representation of the music, and the musicianship that went into the recording process. We hope that you enjoy this song, and that it also means something, personally, to you!
