Love's The Place To Be
by Jason BirchmeierFollowing his semi-successful stint with Island, Will Downing moved to Mercury records and recorded Love's the Place to Be. The album spawned a few minor R&B hits -- "There's No Living Without You," "Do You Still Love Me," "Break Up to Make Up," and "Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This" -- though none of them hit the pop charts. Nonetheless, these songs were all some of Downing's best work -- even if he didn't write the songs -- showcasing his vocal prowess. While the album-opening title track began the album with an energetic spark, Downing also sang quite a few low-key ballads on Love's the Place to Be, including "Do You Still Love Me" and "Nothing Has Felt Like This" -- the latter a duet with Rachelle Ferrell.
