Silver Bells
Lonnie was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in church, following in her mother’s footsteps and singing the entire time. Although she never pursued a musical career, music remained an ever present influence in her life. Content to remain behind the scenes with her church choirs, her voice continued to resonate among her peers. As time progressed, she found herself singing at weddings and other private events. As time went by, and lured by her sister, she found her way onto the Karaoke scene – developing a following with each new venue. Perhaps producers for “the Voice” had it right when they passed her by, but her fans would beg to differ. Lonnie’s sound has been likened to artists such as: Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Jennifer Hudson. In the summer of 2011, as fate would have it, she was asked to audition for a local Houston band – The Bayou Funk Experiment. No longer able to slink in the background, she was thrust squarely into the limelight to share her voice with a new arena. A year later, she signed with Red Set Records, LLC and ventured into the studio to record her very first song.
