Lost in America

Lost in America

I wrote the song LOST IN AMERICA while in the US. As a foreigner living in the United States, I got stuck because all doors were shut on my face. The doors were shut because I was not an American Citizen and the process of becoming a Citizen was very tough and my chances were very slim. I refused to compromise my moral values and christian upbringing and that worsened my being lost in America. Part of the song says " I can't a job coz I don't have ID, I can't get ID coz I don't a green card, I can't get a green card coz I don't marry a Citizen" NEVER WANNA is a song that I originally composed as a reflection of what my life is and has been as opposed to what I want my life to be and how I wish my life would have been. Its says in part "I have lived a life that I never wanna live but I never lived a life that I ever wanna live" MYSELF IN YOU is a song that I wrote for my friend. Looking at her, I could see that we had so much in common and I concluded that because I loved myself so much, I had no option but to love her unconditionally as well. As human beings, we may look different because of our skin color, shapes and sizes and religious backgrounds etc but we all just want a better life. Part of the song says "Hating you is like hating myself, judging you is like judging myself but loving you is like loving myself and accepting you is like accepting myself" LOVE ME NOW is an urgent song that calls upon people to love each other now before it's too late. Part of the songs says "don't you wait until my hair is grey, don't you wait until my eyes are closed, until my body is frail, don't you wait the sun goes dark" GOLDEN GIRL was written specifically for a prostitute but can apply to any woman who has ever settled for less which is really all women in the world a one point in their life. It's a song that will give you a kick on the butt too get up and aim higher and fight for a better life instead of settling for nothing or for less than. NOBODY is a song that I wrote on the day that my appeal for 5 year sentence was denied. I felt misunderstood, misjudged and I felt like committing suicide. However, I realized that although the courts had closed my case, God had not closed the chapter of my life. Part of the song says "the greatest attorney is still pleading your case, the final opinions, are yet to be spoken, the very last comments are yet to be said, the final judgement is yet to be passed." I was comparing the unfair earthly trial that I had gone through in Court with the fake public pretender with the real trial that will happen in heaven with Jesus himself as my defense attorney. A VILLAGE GIRL is a song about what matters the most. Is it the heart or the hut? Many times people look at living in the village in a mud walled house with no electricity and no running water as a negative thing. I am a girl who who grew up in the Village under these conditions and yet I'm still alive. This song shows my pride as an African woman from the village and shares that I'm not willing to give up my hut if it will cost me my heart NANII NI NINI is a song based on a true story about my friend. Nanii means "so and so" and "ni nini" means what is it.... What is it that you are looking for, who is it that you want. My friend is an African girl living in America and she fell in love with a very poor African man. She gave him everything including money, property and her heart. Instead of appreciating, this man turned around and cheated on her, abused her, beat her up and dumped her. JOLUO WA is almost similar to "LOVE ME NOW" except that it goes deeper and specifies the specific acts of love that people display upon a dead person. It says in part "When I'm still alive, nobody will even buy me a pain killer, nobody will pick up my phone calls.. But after I die, you start loving me, you start praising me, you buy me new clothes, new shoes, you will carry me in your expensive cars, you will play music and dance for me and say how loving I was, you wait to love me after I die" CHUNGURU MALO is a song in Luo language which means "Lets stand up" This song is an urge for Unity, togetherness and development. It says "Lets get up and take votes, lets get up and choose our leaders, lets get up and start businesses, lets get up and build roads, lets get up and educate our children" HUWEZI KUFA MOYO song means "You cannot lose heart" I wrote this song in the hole after the police had beat me up nearly to death literally and then stripped naked. I was singing loud, screaming and shouting that I cannot lose heart no matter what. The first verse of the songs say "I don't have to understand all about life, I don't have to answer all the questions, I don;'t have to know all the answers, I don't have to solve all the problems" I failed to understand why I had to go through what I was going through but I only understood that I cannot lose heart. ULIVUNJA is Swahili word which means "you broke" I wrote this song for my first love. This song tells him that "you broke my heart, you started to show me love and left me halfway. What did you do to me, many years have passed and I still think about you. I have traveled to the United States of America. I have met many rich men, many powerful men but my heart still wants my African King, tall dark, handsome man" I am hoping that by putting this Album out there and that by putting my soul out here, I will touch somebody. I'm also hoping to meet a professional in the Music Industry who can record my music with better equipment for better quality.
