Golden Section
by Sean CooperAlthough System 7 could easily (and, at points, correctly) be accused of repeating themselves with this, their fifth proper album, the group have in fact carved out their own niche of warm, mellow ambient and psychedelic trance, one they've deviated from little since forming in 1991. Golden Section sticks as close to that niche as past recordings, although somewhat predictably, the group add the percussive influence of jungle on a few of the tracks (most notably "Don Corleone," on which Talvin Singh and Don Cherry appear). Nothing particularly earth-shattering here, but enjoyable nonetheless.
