Once Upon A Time In A Honky Tonk
Kimberly Dawn Murray was born in Dublin Texas and was raised in the neighboring community of De Leon by her parents Shilo & Liz Garmon. (her father Shilo served as Sheriff of Comanche County for 17 years) Kimberly came by her vocal abilities at a very young age. Her first performance ever was at the age of four in front of her church congregation singing "I Saw The Light". ýHer mother Liz, encouraged Kimberly & taught her the true art of singing gospel hymns and the traditional country songs she still sings. Liz was a devoted Buck Owens fan and always had his style of music playing in their home. This formed the basis for the style of music she performs today. In her teen years Kimberly entered a few local beauty pageants and was named Miss De Leon her Senior year in high school. It was during this time that she began writing poetry & this would soon develop into song writing. After high school, Kimberly began studying for her law enforcement career. She has followed through with that career in honor of her father & is currently serving as a sergeant with a Central Texas Sheriff's Department. In the late 90's Kimberly had drifted away from performing & after a failed marriage longed to get back to her roots. She began singing again at Rodeos and Opry houses & with the support of her family and her closest friends has been going non stop ever since. Kimberly says that although she missed the music scene those years she was not performing she does not feel that she turned her back on it either. "There were some life lessons I had to learn & get through. And having gone through those things I have a new appreciation for so many things including my family & my TRUE friends..." "It's those lessons & hardships that have molded me into the person I am today and I wouldn't trade that for anything." In the last two years Kimberly has started studying the guitar and fiddle. She says that the desire to learn the fiddle was just too much to fight. "The traditional country sound is an amazing art form that I am obsessed with." This passion is evident in everything she does. Kimberly, a proud native Texan, resides in the Stephenville area with her dogs Ringo, Jack and Little Joe along with her Roommate "Haus".
