Shout Sister Shout (Live at the Virginia Arts Festival)
Big band standards, Beatles and Beach Boys hits and modern classics such as Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" come to life in SHOUT SISTER SHOUT — the debut album by Prairie Home Companion favorites The DiGiallonardo Sisters, Daniela, Nadia, and Christine. The album was recorded live in concert in May 2013 at the Virginia Arts Festival in Norfolk. Born, bred and based in New York, each member of the close-knit vocal trio has a formidable musical career of her own, as they work in Broadway and rock, singing and composing, acting and teaching. Together they range from the energy of the legendary Boswell and Andrews sisters to mellow '70s pop. In this album — recorded during a single concert at the Virginia Arts Festival in Norfolk with Prairie Home host Garrison Keillor in attendance — they are joined by celebrated Broadway conductor and Norfolk native Rob Fisher, whose credits include the Grammy Award-winning Chicago cast album. DiGiallonardo fans have been tantalized by hearing just a few songs during a typical Prairie Home broadcast. SHOUT SISTER SHOUT is what they've been waiting for — a full album of old-fashioned harmonies The DiGiallonardo Sisters spice with new energy and fun.
