Virtuoso Cello Encores
JOSEPH KAIZER, VIRTUOSO CELLIST In my opinion, Joseph Kaizer is one of the most talented young virtuoso cellists to come along in the past several decades. He combines echoes of the virtuosity of Rostropovich, with the warm, lush phrasing and impeccable intonation of Jacqueline Du Pre and Pablo Casals. Overstated? Perhaps. But true? Indoubably. Larry A. Russell, CEO Eroica Classical Recordings Joseph Kaizer has appeared in solo and chamber recitals across the US and abroad. He tours frequently throughout the United States, and in 2005, he was invited to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Denmark where he presented a solo recital and appeared in several concerts and master classes throughout Copenhagen. He has appeared as soloist with the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra, the Northwestern University GSO symphony, Bradley University Chamber Orchestra and the North Shore Chamber Orchestra of Chicago, IL. In addition to his chamber and solo recitals, Joseph Kaizer was a semi-finalist in the 2006 Carlos Prieto International Cello Competition which took place in Morelia, Mexico. Joseph Kaizer was born in December of 1977, in Peoria, IL. He was brought up in a musical family, and began playing concerts publicly at the age of 10. His early studies were with the Russian cellist Suren Bagratuni, whom he studied with from high school until the completion of his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois. He continued his studies with Hans Jorgen Jensen at Northwestern University where he completed both his Masters degree as well as his post graduate performance degree. He is currently finishing his Doctoral studies at the Indiana University School of Music as the assistant of the world renowned recording artist and teacher Janos Starker. Joseph Kaizer has held adjunct teaching positions at both Northwestern University and Indiana University. In 2005 he was the professor of cello and chamber music studies at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI.
