Other Highz

I am the second oldest of Eight children. My older brother is a drug addict. If you have an older sibling then you know that as a child you idolize your older brothers or sisters. I Idolized my brother cause he was home run king at the little league park I played at. He played basketball, football and got good grades in school. He's had a beautiful wife and a son. I don't know where things went alternatively but today he has lost everything now. He is currently out on the streets hustling, stealing and doing what ever he can to get that next hit of cocaine. This release is dedicated to my older brother and everyone out there who knows someone who abuses drugs to the point of interrupting life. Personally I don't believe drug addiction is illness. I believe it's a choice. We all get urges but it's how we choose to alleviate those urges. I believe you can be a "Functional addict". This means the use of substances does not take over your life, family and finances. This must be true cause all drug users aren't junkies. I know some users who have full lives. They have families, careers and the use of drugs has not ended anything important to them. Others have no need for drugs at all. For example, Michelle Obama has a great education and married a man who makes huge decisions that affect millions of lives. She handles herself and her daughters like she has done it in a past life. She has found "Other HighZz" than substance abuse. The high of being the most powerful woman in America must be intense. Her high must last longer than anything you could use. Michelle Obamas high goes down in history as the first "Black" first lady in the white house. The track: Michelle Obama is dedicated to her prowess and acumen that inspires people and people of color the world over. Art is my high. I love visual arts. I like looking at building architecture, movies, body building, MMA and the art you see when a coffee shop makes you a "Latte" with a picture in the whipped cream. Everyone should have a Latte with a beautiful picture in it of their choosing. The Track "Everybody Have A Latte" is homage to the simple highs in life. A relationship can be a beautiful high. Every second spent with that special someone carries a infinite amount of bliss. When someone you care about bares themselves to you, uninhibited by fear there is a high there. The trust to allow someone to view your truth nakedly carries a lot of responsibilities. I get a high when a my soul mate tells me her truth. "I want her naked". This is what track three is about. For me as a piano player there are songs I can sit and play all day long and others that I can listen to all day. I get such a high from playing that I loose track of time. Time doesn't exist in a state of bliss. The track "Bolero" has a melody that floats like a blimp. Not really much to say about this track cause words just don't help. You have to listen to it. For recovering addicts it's a day to day and sometimes moment to moment struggle. Recovering from addiction is the same thing as bouncing back from a torn relationship. The thing is to own it and "Forgive yourself". You made a mistake. It's ok. Now keep it moving. The song "I forgive myself" is the journey to that point of forgiving your self. There are so many different ways to maintain a natural high. Millions have found it. This release is dedicated to all who enjoy life and its many "Other HighZz". My brother has given a valuable lesson with his addiction. For me I will Never do it. To this day I have never done any type of hardcore drugs. I trust you enjoy this release as much as I have enjoyed creating it with the wonderful musicians and singers that have given their talents. Michelle Obama Angela Johnson Swan played her guitar so beautifully on this track. The end groove is just way funky. Thank you Angela. Everybody Have a Latte Gorden Campbell just killed the groove on the drums. His pocket is way deep. Anthony Crawford rocked the Bass groove and Jesse Stern mesmerized the Bass solo. Yes there are two Bassist on this track. Vocals are by the awesome Lisa Frazier and myself. Lisa just vibes like all get out. I want you naked L. Young's vocals just took this track to another level. Man thank you so much for lending such a cool swagger. Also, IBX92 is a poet from London England. Her Poem in this song describes the unveiling of true beauty. Thank you Tina Snowdon A.K.A IBX92 Nando Raio on the bass gave me chills when I heard it. I can see why David Foster uses you on his sessions. Thank you for playing on this track. Bolero Dr. Dana Howells Clarinet strikes a chord for me. It's very classical but very modern in places. Quetzal Guerrero's Violin brings resolution to the end of this piece. Thank you so much for the vibe. Jenni Fujita's part is very small but needed. She sang the Opera vocal transition you will here in this song. Thank you Jenni for the most lovely 3 notes I could ask for. I forgive myself This is a solo piano piece. I really did have to forgive myself. Try it. it's liberating.
