Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Malin Sjöquist always dreamed of being in the spotlight. From the tender age of four, she knew that the entertainment world was truly her calling. Dancing her way from stage to stage, Malin knew that she was destined for super stardom. Malin attended several music schools, knowing she had to develop her mind, as well as her performing skills. Though making music was her greatest love, Malin still held a special place in her heart for musical theater. She has appeared in some of Broadway's most beloved theatrical productions such as, Grease, Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar, Footloose, and most recently, in Hairspray, in the role of girl you love to hate, Amber. All of her years of hard work had finally begun to pay off, when in 1999 she was discovered after a show by a professional entertainment manager. Only one year later , she got her first taste of international success with the Scandinavian all girl pop group Lucy Street. Soon after, Malin was signed to Sony/ Epic UK and worked with the famous songwriting team, Jörgen Elofsson and Andreas Carlsson, best known for their work with pop megastars (Britney Spears,Westlife,Backstreeet Boys,Celine Dion, etc..) this lead to a string of hits for Malin, now performing under the name Girls Next Door. After a quite unexpected meeting with a young, talented songwriter/producer Jimmy Åkerfors, they formed the musical sensation Kootchi, and began to make music in the dance genre, Malin's true love. They released the digital only single, Nivek Tek vs. Dirty-Z Featuring Kootchi- It Wouldn't Be Christmas ( Without Your Love) and several other tracks for the Super Dance Christmas Party compilation album on ISV Entertainment. ISV Entertainment were so impressed with Kootchi, that they signed Kootchi for an exclusive North American deal for the debut single " Be Free" Kootchi recently changed their name to Kaatchi for the North American release. Kaatchi teamed up with Swedish music industry mogul Stefan Lendenius (Swewave/Pick Up Music) who has launched many of Scandinavia's top acts, like (Nouveau Riche) to make their dreams a reality! With an incredible album in the works, a sexy and colorful video, and some killer dance remixes of "Be Free" under their belts, Kaatchi is ready for anything that may come their way!
