The Leslies
by Mike DaRoncoThe post-Shredder Records label of American Pop Project have moved towards their un-punk intentions -- following releases by the quirky new wave of Alien Crime Syndicate and the surf-garage of the Saboteurs -- by re-releasing a collection ultra-pop tunes from the Leslies. The five song EP contains previously released songs from their two European-only full-lengths, and this "best of" is a nice introduction for an American audience who might not be willing to pay the ridiculous import prices. Musically, this quartet continue to enforce that all Swedish indie-pop acts contain a bounce of uppity quirk. With an added influence that's rooted from the Beatles Revolver era, one could only hope that American Pop will also re-release the Leslies first two albums.
