La Dolce Vita Souvenir
Inspired by the exhibition “Italian Style on the Silver Screen”, this cd collects selected tracks and excerpts from Federico Fellini’s timeless classic “La Dolce Vita” (1960). Nino Rota composed a vibrant soundtrack which entered the collective memory of cinema lovers and captured perfectly the atmospheres of Fellini and Flaiano’s fresco of the Roman nightlife. This EP collects some of Rota’s own creations for the movie, plus some other compositions like “Patricia” and “Why Wait” by Perez Prado, incorporated by Rota in the movie soundtrack. Some notable moments include the main themes “La Dolce Vita” and “Parlami di me”; and “Cadillac”, which was later covered by Combustible Edison for their debut album “I, Swinger” (1994). Franco Ferrara conducts, Armando Trovajoli collaborates. Bonus: Adriano Celentano (extremely popular singer and actor for decades) is captured in his first on-screen performance, singing “Ready Teddy” (originally brought to success by Little Richard) and accompained by I Campanino, a cool combo active between the 1950s and the 1960s. Liner notes by Anna Battista, one of the curators of the “Italian Style on the Silver Screen” event.
