Well, in this case - you make a record. Rick Temporao & the New Low have just released their debut CD, "Down in Front". It boasts smart songwriting, hypnotic beats and a flare for the dramatic. Think Sam Roberts goes to film school while sharing a dorm room with Elvis Costello. Originally from Kitchener, Rick left everything he knew about himself and his music to travel abroad. From awe-inspiring sights in Istanbul to quiet introspective days in Lisbon, the experience fuelled the creation of the songs, the band and ultimately the record. As Rick puts it - "The perspective I got from leaving gave me the drive to do what I always wanted to do. I was able to eliminate the bullshit and focus on what really matters." After returning home with a suitcase full of fresh songs, Rick immediately set about hand picking a group of talented and hungry musicians to form his band. Soon after, Rick's songwriting caught the attention of multi-platinum producer Brian Allen (Triumph, Lee Aaron, Haywire). With his new band and a name producer on board, Rick dug in for the months of hard work that would produce his stunning debut album. The band's live show ventures from hushed intimacy to amplified bravado. They take the strength and intensity of a rock band and colour it with very human moments of vulnerability. This group of experienced and inventive musicians provide the perfect backdrop with their ability to set a groove and explode into the chorus or just disappear to shed light on a poignant lyric. And of course at centre stage is Rick - alternately wowing the crowd with his soaring vocals and hypnotizing them with his passionate half-whispered falsetto.
