Our God with Us (feat. Rebecca Popplewell)
Story Whilst preparing for Christmas 2015 Andrew felt led to bring a new song to his church for Christmas. ‘Initially, I’d been asked to do a version of Hallelujah Christmas’ (Cloverton), based on the very popular song Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. But it just didn’t feel right. Christmas at Ecclesall is a very special time and we get a lot of people coming in from the surrounding community. I wanted to create an anthem for the church family, but also something that would speak to people less familiar with the story of Christmas and what it could mean to them.’ Andrew started work on the melody and sketched out some rough lyrics. However, he soon came to realize that he would need some support to bring the project together. ‘I called my friend Dave (Stout), I knew he was a craftsman when it comes to words and that he would help me to bring together the project and really bring the spirit of Christmas to the song.’ “The melodies are haunting and Andrew showcases the true mystery of Christmas with this inspired work” (Chris Eaton) “It's really beautiful! I love it.” (Philippa Hanna) For 2016, Andrew has re-mastered the studio album ready for digital release.
