Barry's Gift To Jazz And Blues
Barry\'s Gift To Jazz and Blues is a collection of original Australian compositions that all feature a drum solo in the songs. The majority of the material comes from Barry\'s mainstay band \"CHAIN\" with another track recorded live with Guitarist Rick Veneer & outstanding bass player Phil Hoffman. There are 3 different bass players on this record, Barry ( big goose ) Sullivan ( 1946-2003 ), Dirk Dubois and Phil. The tracks are not short because of the amount of Improvisation going on with all the players and the drum solos. I think that this is a very Creative example of Australian music coming of Age and the Development of Australia\'s individual and distinctive style of playing Blues, Jazz, Funk and keeping it Swinging and Rocking. When we toured Australia with Muddy Waters, he said to \"Chain\', ( well you guys don\'t play blues like we do, but whatever you play sure sounds good to me). He was like a Father to us. \"Chain\" ended up recording an Album in Melbourne with 2 members of the Muddy Water\'s Blues Band, James ( pee wee ) Maddison and George ( mojo ) Beauford. That was a buzz and that Album is entitled \"Two Of A Kind\", meaning that it doesn\'t matter what color your skin is when you play music. The Universal Language.
