American hip-hop artist from New Jersey- BENEFICENCE (Which means an act of goodness) has been one of the most active independent artists in the game since 1994. Beneficence’s style is slick, complex, intense, and intelligent. As a critical thinker he flows easily between songs with social commentary, party joints, and female friendly anthems without having lost integrity. Beneficence first began performing and releasing singles in the early and mid 90’s. Sharing the bill with some of hip-hop’s most established artists such as Rakim, Mos Def, Dead Prez, EL Da Sensei, O.C, Joe Buddens, Poor Righteous Teachers, Lost Boyz, Afu-Ra, Cali Agents, The Roots amongst many others. Also rocking/speaking at many of New Jersey’s Juvenile Detention Centers. After a wise decision to avoid being a statistic of street life, Benef enrolled into Cheyney University. Despite efforts from high school guidance counselors to discourage him against pursuing further education. Beneficence graduated with B.A in Communications. Shortly after he began touring with New York based “Full Circle” Dance/Theatre company. As an emcee for the group they begin delivering electric shows displaying all elements of hip-hop including Breakin, B-Boying, Graffitti , DJing, and emceeing. Eventually releasing his debut Eye Of The Storm in 2004. The female jewel “Dina” and “Bounce”(opposition) spawned the 1 & 2 hits on New Artist Radio’s Worldwide Countdown. With production from Rell Da Sniper and Khary ( Ghetto Love/LL.Cool J-Swizz Beatz) the album(with little to no budget) gained exposure overseas, particularly Europe and Japan. Benef returned in 2007 with Vocal Sport focusing on styles and Lyricism. The album cover chosen was an exact replica of the 1st black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson’s documentary dvd cover.(Unforgivable Blackness). With help from EL Da Sensei &DJ Kaos (Artifacts), Mr. Len (Company Flow), Lyrical Graphiti, and Rell Da Sniper, VS charted on several underground radio stations nationwide. For the past Few years Beneficence has become an international success touring Europe and collaborating on several E.Ps’, Albums, and mixtapes with many European artists. He also appeared on O.S.T.R’s (Poland) Gold selling album O.C.B in 2009. He then released his 3rd album Holders Of The Key solely produced by DJ LKB (Swizterland) on Undisputed Ent. In 2010 he plans to drop the long awaited Sidewalk Science with LKB and legendary producer Diamond D(D.I.T.C) “The moment Sidewalk Science is released it will be classic. As many accolades as Diamond has, This will be the only album with multi-produced joints by Diamond besides Fat Joe’s debut album.
