The Kelly Project
The Kelly Project combines the refreshing sound of tight JB-style horns with funky R&B, and the infusion of spicy vocals elevates the music to a rarefied air reserved for the greats of the game. “Champagne Skirt” comes on like Kool & The Gang and the horn hits will get you ready to boogie down like there's no tomorrow. “Been In Love Before” has a Blind Faith feel to it, and the vibrato guitars have a magic unto themselves. A flute pops in and out of the mix, like a mischievous fish. “Katmandu” is nothing at all like the Bob Seger classic of the same name. The tribal elements wash over the listener in waves, and the percussion is heavenly. “Leave Me Now” combines elements of Frank Zappa with Herb Alpert and the horn breakdown towards the end is incredible.
