Studio Sessions: Vol. 1
All instruments and vocals were played/sung live by Cory Johnson of Upside Avenue, with exception of the female vocal on Heart Racers and Deal Breaks, performed by Alex Smith. The album, Studio Sessions Vol. 1, has been a long time coming. All the songs were written between 2001 and 2009, and recorded anywhere from 2005 to 2011 at Alchemy Sound Studios in Tallahassee, FL. The wide variety of songs on the album is the product of years playing and writing music for different musical groups and bands. Cory Johnson would like to give credit and thanks to Aaron Buckman, who was responsible for influencing lead guitar ideas for Victims of Vanity and The Answer is You, lead guitar and vocal ideas on The “New Song”, and for the piano ideas on For the Rest of my Life, Todd Sanders for lead guitar ideas on Arson of Old Lace and Drivin' 80, Craig Bray and Kevin McGinniss for arrangement ideas on Heart Racers and Deal Breakers and Breaks the Dawn, and his mom, Judy Johnson for helping with vocal harmony ideas. And last but certainly not least, a never-ending "thank you" to his parents, Charles and Judy Johnson, for their perpetual love and support of his music career. He wouldn’t be anywhere down this road if it weren’t for their constant belief and encouragement in their son's abilities.
