Rollin' On
The award-winning Lou Reid and Carolina have announced their new album, ROLLIN’ ON, has been released to radio stations and is now available at AirPlayDirect.com with physical copies hitting stations next week. The title cut, “Rollin’ On,” features Lou’s award-winning vocals and mandolin talents highlighted by band members Christy Reid (Bass and Vocals); Trevor Watson (Banjo, Guitar and Vocals); and Marcus Smith (Guitar and Vocals). Special guests on the album include: Ron Stewart (Fiddle), Skip Cherryholmes (Guitar on “Lonesome Moon,” “Train of Trouble” and Guitar and Baritone Vocals on “Christmas in the Blueridge.” Another key track is the memorable “The Crooked Road,” the name of Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail that covers the almost 333 miles of scenic terrain in southwest Virginia that connects 9 major heritage music venues and over 60 affiliated venues and festivals. This past weekend, Lou Reid and Carolina began filming an accompanying music to be released this summer. On June 16, the band will perform on The Crooked Road Tour at the Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, Va. The band began in 1992, with its sound largely based in traditional bluegrass roots highlighted by their dynamic vocals. Since their formation, the band has recorded nearly a dozen albums. The group is anchored by the award-winning talents of Lou Reid who is arguably one of the most recognizable voices in bluegrass music. Reid’s wife, Christy, lends her impressive lead and tenor vocals, bass, and emcee work that are a true asset to Carolina. Other members include Trevor Watson, on banjo and harmony vocals with Marcus Smith on guitar and harmony vocals. The band has a long list of honors and nominations from organizations such as the International Bluegrass Music Association, GMA Dove Awards, and more. They also received significant success with their song “Amanda Lynn.” The song was honored with the 2010 SPBGMA Song of the Year Award for and also Certified as International Top 10 by The International Association of Independent Recording Artists.
