Guards (feat. Ayoo Angie)
Vancouver, BC – November has been a great month for Canadian rap, and Spotty Josif‘s latest release “Way Before” is taking the top spot on the West Coast. The Vancouver emcee recently traveled to New York where he snapped the cover art for this track, and musically it maintains a similar dark and brooding sound overall. Compared to Josif’s last release “Killa” (which he dropped earlier this month), this new song takes listeners in a harder hitting direction than we’ve heard. Nobody is complaining though, because he pulled it off smoothly. There are a couple familiar players to the game that return to contribute on the track. “Way Before” is produced by Horror Vacui who is also credited with the production of “Judge Me” and “Motel Room” for Josif (and reigns from Spain). Vancouver’s own Matthew Harvey assisted with the mixing and mastering at The Warehouse Studio. While the production is noticeable, it’s the feature from Seth Kay which makes this track the banger that it is. We’ve seen a few features surface in recent months from the rapper, but his addition to “Way Before” is impressive and sonically balancing. Check out the release below.
