The Wanderlust
The Cloers are John and Cate Cloer, an award-winning, husband and wife acoustic duo. Influenced by folk, rock, pop, and country, their songs display an engaging blend of modern pop melodies and tight harmonies, supported by Cate's crystalline country-rock vocals and John's percussive acoustic guitar style. Known for their pensive lyrics and well-crafted songs, The Cloers continue to captivate audiences by combining their passion for writing with an enthusiasm for storytelling and live performance. John and Cate Cloer are recipients of two Regional Artist Project Grants (Arts and Science Council, ASC and the United Arts Council), were named Singer-Songwriter of the Year by the Charlotte Music Awards, and have been juried into the NC Arts Council's Touring Artist Directory for 2012-2014 as featured performing songwriters for the state of North Carolina. Also, they have supported other artists in their community by serving on the Board of Directors for the NC Songwriters Co-op as well as on local Cultural Arts Grant Panels. The Cloers play in a wide variety of venues such as listening rooms, performing arts centers, festivals, house concerts, and corporate events, and are available as a duo or as a full band. As a duo, The Cloers are Cate on lead vocal, and concertina or piano on select tunes, with John on backing vocals, acoustic guitar, and upright bass on select tunes. As a full band, The Cloers are comprised of Cate and John, as above, along with their band including fiddle, bass guitar, drums, banjo, mandolin, and electric guitar. John and Cate have recently completed their debut full-production CD project, The Wanderlust, with producer, Chris Rosser. This recording features folk instrumentation in combination with The Cloers pop/rock songwriting, blended with a full-textured, layered production style.
