First World Problems
Mack To The Future is the brainchild of 25 year old freestyle rapper and indie vocalist Mackenzie Iames ("Mack"). Looking for a way to combine an eclectic group of genre inspirations---namely underground hip-hop, alternative rock, indie pop, and dubstep/electronic music--Mack has discovered a way to cover all of her musical bases in one persona - as Mack to the Future, a whole new type of rap artist. Her first release, First World Problems, draws on influences from underground hip-hop pioneers like Atmosphere, Eyedea, Dessa, P.O.S., and Souls of Mischief, as well as the styles of modern rap artists like J.Cole, Childish Gambino, and Kendrick Lamar. But she's not afraid to push the boundary lines. She is also inspired by heavier bands like Circa Survive and Brand New and often does hip-hop style covers of those types of artists. Mack To The Future sees no reason why two entirely different genres of music can't integrate into one, nor why a young female rapper can't hang with the best of them in the genre. This is all embodied by her tagline, the future is what you make it.
