Musician, composer, writer and producer Eddy J. Free's music has been heard on television shows nationwide including MTV's "The Real World." Since 2010, he’s released 15 independent albums. He’s worked with a large variety of artists including the Grammy nominated R&B singer Cleveland P. Jones, three-time Grammy-nominee B.Slade, hip-hop trailblazer Tim’m West and singer/songwriters Patsy Moore, Tim Dillinger and William Scott. Eddy has also co-produced with multi-platinum producer Kayo (LaFace Records, Toni Braxton, TLC) and had the opportunity to work with and learn from musicians such as legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden and bassist/Grammy award-winning producer Andrew Gouche (Mary Mary, Warren G, The Winans and Chaka Khan). Originally from Indiana and the son of a preacher, Eddy learned to play piano at a young age and taught himself to read and write music. He further honed his craft in Los Angeles and Atlanta, where he formed a live band that performed during the Olympic Games in 1996. Influenced by artists ranging from Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Sting, Seal and producers such as Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Gamble & Huff, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Eddy is notable for successfully combining various genres including hip-hop, R&B, jazz, pop, electronica, classical and more, creating a unique sound all his own. His debut album titled "Mad City 2010" was the first in a series of four projects released that year to benefit the 'Keep A Child Alive' organization, a non-profit that provides medical treatment and care to children living with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. Eddy holds a Bachelors Degree in music from California Institute of the Arts and a professional certification in Audio Engineering & Music Production from The Recording Workshop in Ohio.
