Childhood Memories
Theres no doubt that Rockwell has made one of the most astounding and acclaimed contributions to the drum & bass scene since he first arrived several years ago. With a production technique like no other and a musicality others can only strive for, Tom Rockwell has been a solid blast of fresh air. Now though the bars about to be raised even further; we have a game changer on our hands. Childhood Memories is one of the most enjoyable and most accomplished pieces of electronic bass music to emerge in recent times. Dropping his bpms far below the usual confines of drum & bass, Rockwell has delivered a warning shot across the bows signalling just what hes capable of. Featuring Kito and the vocal talents of Sam Frank, Childhood Memories is a staggeringly beautiful piece of music that defies categorisation. Utterly essential. Of course being on a label such as Shogun Audio the package doesnt just end there. For those who are still craving their D&B fix Phace & Misanthrop mess things up completely with their trademark German engineering for the Neosignal remix whilst Metrik is drawn in to drop a huge hands in the air peak-time performing re-fix. Theres also an extremely cool 808-fuelled electro house mix from east Londons Teeth thatll have dance floors bouncing across the land. Finally we have one last piece from Rockwell keeping things in a similar vein on Fluf. Dare you not to step to this! Jackin house but with the Rockwell twist of intricate edits and pristine arrangements. An amazing way to finish off his biggest head turning release yet and its only just the beginning.
