Labyrinthine Heart (Expanded Version)
Sleepthief is an American electronic music recording project formed by producer and composer Justin Elswick. Elswick began writing music for the album ten years prior to its release. The album was mixed and mastered by Israel Curtis. Sleepthief's first album, The Dawnseeker, was released in 2006. The follow-up, Labyrinthine Heart, was released in 2009. This new version of Labyrinthine Heart features 4 non-album tracks. Sleepthief is most often compared to musical groups such as Delerium (in its output from the mid-1990s onward) and Balligomingo, which produce emotive, melodic, synthesized music containing New Age and World beat-influenced ethnic characteristics from other cultures. Sleepthief uses pop music-based song structures with performances by (mostly) female singers such as Kirsty Hawkshaw (BT, Tiesto, Opus III), Kristy Thirks (Rose Chronicles, Delerium), Caroline Lavelle (Vangelis, Art of Trance), Nicola Hitchock (Mandaly), Zoe Johnston (Above & Beyond, Faithless), Jody Quine (Balligomingo), Roberta Carter Harrison (ATB, Wild Strawberries), Joanna Stevens (Solar Twins, Carmen Rizzo), and Kyoko Baertsoen (Lunascape).
