Any Old Destination
Although Bob hails from the U.K. he has the spirit of the old west in his blood. Bob loves nothing better than jumping on a train and singing his way from place to place, which I hope comes across on this album. Bob draws a lot of inspiration from travelling across the United States and Canada, taking in as many destinations as is possible in the vacation time available to him. He regails us with his tales and we at the Wirral Musicians Project here in the U.K. try and capture his memories in song. These songs are a collection written by various members of the project. Some have been released earlier and collectors of train songs may recognise one or two from other compilations released by American record label NBT, but Bob wanted these particular titles put together on one album and who are we to argue with Bob, so here it is. Many of the musicians featured on this album took part in the famous "Merseybeat" days of the sixties performing in such venerable places as the world famous Cavern Club, Mathew Street. and other great venues in and around Liverpool. Age has not diminished their love of music and one of our merry band is a sprightly 74 years young (Bill Evans) who can still rock with the best. We hope you enjoy this album as much as we enjoyed making it. Check out smallsteps at www.smallstepswmp.co.uk and see what we`re about.
