Music from the Hill 2005
"Music from the Hill" features brand new classical, electronic, pop and jazz music written by student composers at St. Olaf College (Northfield, Minnesota). Highlights of the album include "Transmogrifications," Michael Sweeney's cutting-edge fusion of jazz, funk and electronic elements with blazing trumpet solos by Martin Hodel; the acoustic guitar pop ballad "Better Days" by Lucas Paine; Jeremy Anderson's "Production R," which takes full advantage of vocal layering capabilities in the digital multitrack medium; the atmospheric "Veturnaeur" for string orchestra by Matthew Peterson and "Death Be Not Proud," a dramatic choral setting by Rebekka Jensen. "Music from the Hill" was produced by Pacific Rim Sound and released by Muziko Nova, St. Olaf College's student-run contemporary music organization. All proceeds generated from sales of the CD support future Muziko Nova recording projects and contemporary music events.
