Fauré: Piano Music complete
Fauré’s songs and other vocal works are the prominent element in his oeuvre. This nineteenth-century French composer could paint colours with his often delicate music. However, he wrote quite a number of works for piano solo as well, featured on this release. Although Chopin posed as a model at the start of Fauré’s career - viz. titles like mazurka and nocturne - his piano music has always remained music in its most independent form. The composer did nothing to comply with pressionism, the fashion at the time. French pianist Jean-Philippe Collard holds a passionate plea for Fauré’s piano music.
