While You Wait
Jaylon Ashaun Jenkins discovered his voice growing up in Houston, TX, surrounded by friends and family members that share incredible musical talent. He started out his progression as an artist by making beats with his mouth well before he could ever talk. He started singing by age 4, graduated to piano lessons by age 6, picked up the guitar in high school, and has sang in church almost his entire life. At the young age of 3 years old, Jaylon was faced with immense adversity when he lost his father due to an enlarged heart. Having to learn very much on his own about what it means to "be a man," he now remarks that his life circumstances do not define him, but instead are blessed challenges that God brought him through. Jaylon made his debut as a pop artist in 2015 with the release of his first music project “My Identity,” which established his sound as an artist. Since then, he has added three singles and several visuals to his repertoire of releases. His music can be described as “a crossover between Ed Sheeran and Frank Ocean.” Some of his major musical influences include One Republic, Andy Mineo, Jon Bellion, and Lianne La Havas. Ultimately, Jaylon strives to make music that is organic and connects with people.
