87 Columbia Road
Audio Tonic launch another musical missile fresh off the back of the Miami Sampler 2012 (released in March) which garnered support from some of electronic musics most revered names including Luciano, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nic Fanciulli, DJ T, Jimpster, Rocco and many more. The Columbia Road EP comes from one half of the DJ/Production duo Kruse & Nurnberg, no stranger to grade A German harmonic engineering - Florian Kruse! Two originals and two remixes make up the package, starting with '87 Columbia Road', a stab based groover etching into the deeper realms with some essential old school chord & sample work from Kruse. A future classic. The remix comes from Argentinean new kid on the bloc Ultimate Man (better known as Toomy Disco). With releases on Umalu, Nang, Solardisco and SpaceWalker his craftsmanship and talent cannot be disputed, as Ultimate Man his influences from 90's New York become fully apparent throwing down a serious slice of rolling piano based bottom end beats and bass lines, a sure peak time player. Next up from Kruse 'The Green Wine Experience'. A tight building masterpiece which features smooth filters and hooky vox samples, skippy percussive elements and a rousing synth line which sucks you into a vortex of musical emotion. A tune that's guaranteed to claim a space in your set somewhere in the night, morning or afternoon! Piking up the remix duty is label stalwart Raxon, who's fast growing his reputation as one to watch for 2012. His interpretation kicks in with what could be defined as the 'sound of the moment'. A chunky razor edged bass line chugs along with the original elements of the track, offering a simple but very effective piece of deep main room action!
