Dutchman Benny is usually at home producing for labels such as Toolroom Records, Ministry of Sound, Stealth Records, Nervous records and many other top imprints, but his next release sees him working with LS City Records. Kicking off with some edgy, cycling kicks 'If You Look Ace' slowly but steadily builds a bouncy house groove before bubbling over into a stomping, big bottomed wedge of house. Things pair down to some silvery percussion at the mid-point before the storming bass kicks once again and carry all those listening along for the tumultuous tech ride. The Jamie Fisher remix strips things back to a much more confined, rolling jam. There's plenty of kinetic energy and percussion bounding about in the mid ground of the track, whilst white noise crescendos and plummeting bass kicks take the track deeper the further on it goes. A muffled, unintelligible vocal repeats itself as the intensity builds before the dub makes way for more prying percussion and twisted sampling. It's initially a subtle cut which then transforms you to a deeper darker place 6 odd minutes later, and will no doubt be used as a tempo shifter in many a top set. LSCR006 is another solid statement from this fledgling Leeds label: few imprints are making tech house as reliably good and floor slaying as this at the moment.
