quintessentials
The production of "The Quintessentials" album was primarily handled by AROL $KINZIE as he showcases his "Funk House" musical style and made use of funk elements in a deep house beat, re-recording of vocal samples from club bangers and classic R&B/Pop music records. In addition to SKINZIE's own drum programming, assembly and keys accompaniments as well as crazy basslines, the album also features contributions from global sensations such as Dolls Combers, Mogomotsi Chosen, TimAdeep, Lady Albatross, Botshelo Moate, Arny Al, Lerato, and Owethu among others. Diverging from the then-dominant old school electronic persona in house, SKINZIE's album concerns themes of class, self-consciousness, love, nightlife, fantasy, and old agendas. Arol $kinzie described the album's concept as a state of purgatory—a journey towards the "light at the end of a tunnel", serving as a follow-up to his sophomore studio album 'Luna' (2022). Musically, Quintessentials is an upbeat record containing funk house and dance-pop songs that are heavily inspired by the 1980's new wave, funk and electronic dance music styles. The album received widespread acclaim from music critics, who complimented it's production and melodies.
