Pulsar
by Bradley TorreanoThe smooth Brazilian jazz of Ivan Conti is in fine form on Pulsar, his 1999 release. Conti's excellent percussion is the highlight of the album, which is otherwise a fairly average affair. But the Afro-Cuban rhythms found within are much appreciated amongst the generic jazz tracks, giving the whole affair a more exciting feel than it would have otherwise. Although he is capable of better material, Conti's drumming alone still makes this a worthwhile, if average, listen.
