Now That's What I Call Music! 48 or Now 48 was released in 2001 on Mini Disc (the final volume to be released in this format), Compact Disc and audio cassette. The album is the 48th edition of the Now! series in the United Kingdom. Sales of Now 48 surged after it was used as the soundtrack for an episode of Peter Kay's Car Share, despite being out of print, the second hand sales volume was high enough to cause the album to enter Amazon's compilation chart. Prices of the album rose from as low as 11 pence to over £20.[1] Now 48 is the favourite album of main character Kayleigh Kitson.
