Sandrine Piau* / Sunhae Im soprano Sara Mingard, mezzo-soprano Werner Güra tenor Christopher Purves bass-baritone accentus Insula orchestra Laurence Equilbey conductor For her new recording on the naïve label, Laurence Equilbey is taking on one of the truly major works of the religious music repertory: Mozart’s Requiem. Composed in his final year and unfinished, the work, commissioned by an enigmatic patron, is still today shrouded in mystery. As a prelude, Insula Orchestra will be interpreting a little-known psalm: Miserere ZWV 57 by the Czech composer Zelenka, whose music is a fine example of the late baroque style. Insula orchestra and accentus will be joined by the Mozart specialist, soprano Sandrine Piau, a regular collaborator of Laurence Equilbey, the Korean soprano Sunhae Im, who recently starred in The Marriage of Figaro, and a third female voice, Italian contralto Sara Mingardo. The baritone Christopher Purves completes the prestigious cast.
