All That Jazz, Vol. 97: Stéphane Grappelli – The Lost Recordings
All tracks on this album have been preserved in the collection of the late "Dr. Jazz", Dietrich Schulz-Köhn, who was a close friend of the legendary French Jazz Violinist Stéphane Grappelli to whom this release is dedicated. They were given to him by the artist himself in form of 78 rpm records and tapes which have now been digitalized in remastered in beautiful 24 Bit High Definition. There are two groups of recordings. The first comes from a 1939 Radio Show from London featuring Grappelli together with Blues Singer Adelaide Hall and the Arthur Young Swingtette. The second group - according to written notes - were recorded before and during a concert performance in Paris in 1960. They fill a gap in the large discography of Stéphane Grapelli, who - in some personal remarks that have been included - also recalls the great times with his friend and congenial partner Django Reinhardt.
