60's Girl Groups
What you are going to find collected on "60's Girl Groups" are not the big hits by the name groups. In fact, chances are you might only recognize the name of the Chiffons and you will not find their big hit "He's So Fine" on this CD. If you are really into early Sixties pop music you might recognize the Blossoms as the regular backup singers on "Shindig." But "Good, Good Lovin'" was a minor single on the Black Singles chart and representative of what you will find here. My vote for the best of the bunch would go for "There He Goes" by the Royalettes, but that is not one of the Baltimore quartets best songs either. But if you are a fan of the Girl Groups are are looking to expand your music collection beyond the standard Motown groups and Leslie Gore and her imitators, then this is a nice little collection of minor hits and B-sides from the Chiffons, the Apollas, the Cookies, and the rest of the ladies that should inspire you to go check out one or more of these groups in depth. One other nice thing about "60's Girl Groups" is that it represents both coasts, and the Back East sound of the Three Degrees and the California sound of the Honeys.
