by Jim Brenholts Permutation is a set of adventurous atmospheres from the "dain bramaged" imagination of Bill Laswell. From the exotic 3D front cover painting to the very busy and very confusing tray card, the visual experience is a mind trip. The music is a real treat, too. Laswell explores many levels of exotic trance material. He combines traditional e-music sources with rock and roll elements and ethnic acoustics. That blend creates some off-the-wall atmospheres and exciting soundscapes. This disc is not among Laswell's best but it is good.
