Like A Rocket

SEVEN releases his fifth album "Like a Rocket" on February 27th, 2009 with featured artists such as the British soul stars Beverley Knight and Omar as well as the U.S. rapper Talib Kweli and AMG. The perfect blend of pop-soul in the new songs, are a clear reflection of the creativity and versatility of this talented artist. The album release tour starts on 13 March 2009. With his critically-acclaimed fourth album ‘Home, Seven reached Gold status and entered the Swiss Album Charts straight in at Nr.5! The successful single “Golden Stairs” reached the top 20 airplay charts. A milestone on Seven’s list of success stories is “SEVEN -THE SHOW IV”, a spectacular and unforgettable trio of sold-out concerts in Zurich and Bern last year. The bonanza production included special guest appearances from the USA, namely soul queens Tamar Davis and Conya Doss as well as former PRINCE sax-player, Eric Leeds - all of whom are featured artists on “Home”. Seven also celebrated his nominations for two Awards at the Swiss Music Awards for "Best Album Urban National" und "Best Video Clip National”. Furthermore, “HOME” was released in Japan, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxemburg. Almost two years after his last album, SEVEN releases his fifth studio album "Like a Rocket" this February, featuring guests such as English Soul Queen Beverley Knight, her male counterpart, Omar as well as rappers Talib Kweli and AMG. The legendary Larry Gold from Philadelphia – who otherwise works for artists such as Erykah Badu and Alicia Keys – graces 5 tracks on the new album with his string arrangements. "Like a Rocket" is "Swiss Made", produced by local “dream team” Ph!L Schweidler, Flo Goetze and SEVEN at the "Department of Noise" studio in Zurich. This smart and crisp pop-soul album is a clever mix of rich beats and catchy melodies. The exceptional soul voice of the singer comes over on the album with a warm and even fragile touch. This intimacy is felt on the first single, "Lisa", skilfully adding a "Golden Stairs" flair to the new album "Like a Rocket”. "Go slow" which opens with a crisp acoustic guitar features Talib Kweli – one of the world's most charismatic and credible MC's ever and known as a pioneer of the Conscious rap movement. With AMG, the West Coast Old School Rapper, a childhood dream came true for SEVEN on this collaboration for the title song “Like a Rocket”. Even though he may not be known on the commercial circuit, his feature is with reason whereby this talented artist reaches the high standards on “Like a Rocket” as on Underground Heroes, Flow at his best. The unique duet on "Jail" with the extremely talented and lovely Beverley Knight is a very cheeky and playful song. The passion of both artists, whose voices simply melt into each other, really go beyond expectation with their high-levelled performance together. Omar enriched "Wish of a fool" with his unique voice and presence like no other and gives the song, so to speak, the icing on the cake. "One day" is an anthem and could even qualify as a Swiss proposal for a James Bond soundtrack. Once again, the producers succeed in awakening emotions with convincing arrangements. "Born & Raised," the last track on the album is a beautifully- presented heartbreaking ballad accompanied by a Gospel chorus, prompting one to want to press repeat again and again. Attitude and style exist on the album "Like a Rocket" in a way rarely accomplished on any other Swiss production before. SEVEN has developed a more mature approach, not only in his music but also as an individual. He has become one of the best live acts of Switzerland and once again proves his inspiring love for music in the 14 songs on his new album.
