Canadian rapper J-Reyez may be just as well known for the skits on his YouTube channel as he is for his rhymes (both of which have contributed to his 48 million views as an unsigned artist, no less), but don’t be fooled by his goofy online persona. His sophomore release, “Stolen Riches,” is to be taken seriously. After all, it’s proof that J-Reyez is a well-rounded rapper. “Stolen Riches” addresses many aspects of his life, from an opening that describes domestic abuse his mother went through during his childhood to paying homage to Tupac by stating that, “I ain’t got time for b------ / gotta’ keep eyes on my m------------’ riches,” repeatedly on “My Riches.” He even pens some classy lines about his romantic exploits on “Our Promise.” Overall, “Stolen Riches” is an amazing display of J-Reyez’s musical prowess. His smooth transitions will keep this mixtape on repeat for listeners.
