The material gets a little close to pop at times (Bacharach-David's "Close to You," Stevie Wonder's "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday"), but Person's tone is always earthy (never more so than on Ray Charles' "Drown in My Own Tears"). Grant Green is the most notable member of the band on this session, which was teamed with the 1971 LP Houston Express on the 1996 CD reissue Legends of Acid Jazz.
