Hater
Korn are still experiencing momentum with their latest album, ‘The Paradigm Shift,’ and soon fans will have even more songs to choose from where the disc is concerned. That’s because the band is adding a few new songs and some bonus live material onto an expanded reissue of ‘The Paradigm Shift’ that’s expected to arrive this summer. One of those new tracks will be a song called ‘Hater’ that frontman Jonathan Davis reveals to Billboard will be the band’s next single. The song is expected to arrive at radio tomorrow (June 19), with it being made available for purchase on June 23. The frontman says, “In the world, everyone has haters. Everyone has someone who hates on you ’cause you have something they want. It’s really, like, the first empowering song I’ve ever written. The lyrics are: ‘You can’t bring me down / I’ve already had my life turned upside down / I ride a downward spiral round and round / But I keep flying, I keep fighting / Don’t ever bring me down.’ That’s like the most positive s–t I’ve ever written.” Davis recorded the track in Bakersfield, Calif., with producer Don Gilmore and then sent it to his bandmates for them to add their parts. And that’s not all listeners will be getting as part of the expanded reissue. The frontman reveals a few tracks from their original ‘The Paradigm Shift’ sessions that didn’t make the cut initially will now appear on the expanded reissue, plus he’s penned another new song called ‘So Unfair’ that will be part of the disc. ‘So Unfair’ is a personal song for Davis, who wrote it about his son’s battle with Type 1 diabetes, and the frontman says he will donate proceeds from sales of the single to the Juvenile Diabetes organization. Fans can look for Davis and Korn taking part in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer, continuing the promotion for ‘The Paradigm Shift’ album.
