This is the first Daughtry album not to be produced by Howard Benson, Daughtry decided to take a different take to their music, hoping to fit into the radio generation at the moment, this includes adding Electric pop and Pop elements to the band music. The band worked with many other songwriters and musicians on the album. Some they worked with include Martin Johnson of Boys Like Girls, Sam Hollander, Blair Daly, Espionage, Rock Mafia, Ali Tamposi, The Monsters and the Strangerz, Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down, Scott Stevens, Kara DioGuardi, Jake Sinclair, Claude Kelly, Johnny Black, and Matthew Thiessen. Daughtry has stated that the album features a new, poppier sound and would also include folk influences. The first single taken from the fourth album is titled Waiting for Superman, written by Sam Hollander, Martin Johnson and Chris Daughtry. The song was released on iTunes on September 17, 2013 and has already reached #14 on the all formats chart, also #1 on the rock chart, and has hit the top 40 in 56 countries so far on iTunes.
