Last Boogie in Paris
by Johny Heering This is a Johnny Rivers live album, recorded in Paris in 1973. It is (presumably) not the entire concert, because it is only 38 minutes long. However, the material that is included is very good. Johnny assembled a great band for this tour, and they really rock. None of the songs included here are live versions of his hits, other than "Summer Rain". But that is pretty much irrelevant, since most of his hits were covers of other people's songs in the first place. There are terrific versions of "Sea Cruise", "Long Tall Sally", "Walkin' Blues" and others here. The concert ends with an epic ten minute plus version of "John Lee Hooker", which is a blues workout that had been a staple of Johnny's live show since the Whisky A Go-Go days. Johnny's fans should dig this CD.
