Dos Grandes
This best-of compilation is split between two stylistically similar singer-songwriters. Joan Sebastian is perhaps the more obscure of the two, having spent the early part of his career successfully writing songs for other artists, though a succession of hits and a later starring TV role ensured that his obscurity was short-lived. Marco Antonio Solis's success with Los Bukis put both himself and Norteno music on the map during the 1990s, and his later solo hits have guaranteed his continuing popularity. DOS GRANDES reprises many of both singers' golden moments, featuring songs such as Solis's wildly popular "Tu Amor O Tu Desprecio" and Sebastian's romantic "Se Esta Volvien Do Loco." Though the album is of necessity a mere snapshot of the two artists' careers, songs such as Solis's emotive "Donde Esta Mi Primavera" and Sebastian's rollicking, mariachi-flavored "Afortunado" should be all the encouragement that's needed for new fans to seek out the many other items in their extensive back catalogs.
